SYNOPSIS
The story follows Sam, a Washington Post travel writer who leads a double life as a vigilante known as “The American.” After saving Sara, an aid worker, from attackers in Nicaragua, he begins a complex relationship with her while secretly eliminating human traffickers and corrupt officials across multiple countries. With help from Bennett, a former military pilot, Sam conducts missions in Haiti, Honduras, and Zambia. His actions catch up with him when Sara is kidnapped in Nicaragua, leading to a dramatic rescue mission with his father, a legendary former U.S. Marshal.
The story culminates with Sam being captured but ultimately recruited by the CIA, continuing his work officially while maintaining his connection with Sara. Throughout the narrative, Sam struggles with the morality of his actions and his transformation from an ordinary journalist into someone willing to take extreme measures against evil, all while dealing with his past and his relationship with his father.
